1. George Abel Ide 1, 2, 3 was born on 27 May 1843 in Seekonk, Bristol County, Massachusets (presently E. Providence, R.I.). He died on 26 Mar 1935 in Creston, Iowa, United States. He was buried in Creston, Iowa, United States.

Excerpt from a brief by Shirley Ide which was included inRichard F. Roti's "The Slaman/Ide Family Genealogies" (datedapprox. 1996): "George Abel Ide was born May 27, 1843, inSeekonk (later named Rehoboth), Massachusets, to WilliamTiffany and Sarah Stone Ide. In 1865, he and his brotherWilliam Jr. moved to Illinois where they farmed together.In 1869, they desired to own more land that was allotted fortheir farm in Illinois, so they journeyed to Iowa andselected farmland near Afton. They moved to Iowa in 1870,George bringing his wife Ellen Allen Ide to whom he wasmarried in 1867, and his firstborn child Frank (Francis)Allen Ide. Those Iowa farms are still owned and tilled byhis descendants, Theodore and Roger Ide. Several other Idedescendants live nearby and farm. George was quite activein community and political circles and held these variouspositions over the years: - Officer and later President ofthe County Fair Board in both Afton and Creston; - Memberof Iowa State Traveling Men's Association, since 1891; -Member, Iowa State Historical Society since 1915; - Member,Iowa Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, 1916;- Elected County Supervisor, 1873-1879; - Elected CountyTreasurer, 1900-1903; - Compiled Union County History,1908; - State Representative, 1909-1910; - Secretary toSchool Board for 20 years; - Justice of the Peace for 10years." The name Able comes from his great grandfather,Abel Ide (source: Memoirs).

George married Ellen Frances Allen [image] 1 daughter of Samuel Bowen Allen and Mary Chaffee on 12 Mar 1867 in Seekonk, Bristol County, Massachusets. Ellen was born on 14 Jan 1845 in Seekonk, Bristol County, Massachusets. She died on 2 May 1929.

Excerpt from George A. Ide Memoir: "On the 16th of May, alovely baby girl was born to us. We named her Carrie, for afavorite aunt. She added brightness to our home until hersudden sickness and death on July 13, 1872. Heaven whereshe went, has seemed to her Mother and me, nearer to us eversince her going."
