Family Trees

Help us get it right!  Email Reunion@theide.net

I remember as a boy, retired Sea Captain Page.  He was a neighbor and friend of my father.  I was sent to him with an errand one day.  The old Captain was very deaf.  He says to me “Whose boy are you?”  I shouted in reply, “Mr. Ide’s boy.”  He said quite severely, “Why don’t you say Captain Ide’s boy?”  - - George A. Ide, from his Memoirs

“Whose boy are you?”  - - A question that used to be asked frequently of George’s great great grandsons around Creston, and will surely come up often at the family reunion.

Comment on Approach to Genealogy:  The most recent several generations of George and Ellen’s descendants were ascertained by starting with the information provided at the last family reunion and updated for corrections or known changes.   We have contacted representatives of your family to solicit changes, but please feel free to let us know of changes/errors they missed or did not tell us about.  Earlier ancestry information was compiled ONLY from authoritative sources such as books or vital records.  There is a wealth of ancient ancestry information that can be downloaded directly from the internet (particularly the LDS Church’s Ancestral File database/website www.familysearch.org).   However, I have not used that data since sources are not indicated, and the LDS disclaims accuracy.
